Abstract: Local cerebral lesion of rabbits were produced by conical freezing technique and the rabbits were killed at 2, 8,12 and 24 hours. The iron, water content and the lipid peroxidation (LPO) in the cercbra wete measured and the activity of superoxide dismutaseSOD) was also detected. The results showed the iron, water content and LPO of the cerebra were increased significantly (P<0.01).Nevertheless the correlate analysis found it has a significant relationship between iron with water content and LPO.Those study indicated that iron medicated lipid peroxidate play a important role in the genesis of brain edema.
