Abstract: The keratins in hair have been analysed by polyacrylamide gel isoelectric focusing from 15 species of Primates, including the species Homo sapiens. In all patterns obtained from these primate hairs, the bands are different from each species to any other in number or position, or both. The gel scans of keratins given by a laser light densitometer show differences between species as well. The isoelectric focusing of keratins in hair would prove to be useful in identifying hair from human and other primates.
