Abstract: Death from hanging with bound hands is an unusual form of asphyxia. The experiments indicated that superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity decreased and malondiadehyde (MDA ) increased significantly in plasma after hanging as compared with those before hanging. The results showed that the changes of SOD and MDA were due to respiratory failure during hanging. The author believed that it was valuable to investigate the death in forensic practice.

Key words: Superoxide dismutase, Malondiade- Hyde, Asphyxia
