Abstract: A total of 320 unrelated individuals from the Liaoning area, China, have been t ped for red cell PGM_1 using isoelectric focusing(PH5—7) in thin—layer polyacry lamide gels. 10 subtypes are considered as gene products of 4 alleles at PGM_1 locus with the following frequencies. PGM_1~(1+)=0.6240, PGM_1~(1-)=0.1240,PGM_1~(2+)=0.1755, PGM_1~(2-)=0.0765. A rare variant PGM_1~(8) as well as a new rare variant PGM_1 China is reported and the pedigree study about this new variant has been carried out. T hePI of this new variant is also determined. The discriminatingpowe(DP) of the PGM_1 is 0.76. A example of the application PGM_1 in individual identification case is attached to this paper.
