Abstract: The electoretinogram (ERG) and visual evoked potential (VEP) in 112 cases of blunt injury of eyes were studied. The results showed that the ERG and VEP regression equation was a good method to evaluate visual acuity objectively. Using ERG combined with VEP could also decided the location of injury of optic pathway. The article confirmed the defect of visual field could affect the wave of VEP and, it is unfit to assess visual acuity of those serious optic nerve injury by VEP only. To analyze the injury of visual acuity and visual field, the author pointed out that if the VEP wave of the injured eye died out, and the other eye was good on VEP, the injury degree should be grievous.
