    2008, 0(5): 321-324.
    Abstract ( 2154 )
Objective To explore the correlativity between the thresholds acquired with auditory steady-state responses(ASSR) and pure tone audiometry(PTA). Methods Eighty-six subjects with normal and abnormal hearing(172 ears) were tested with ASSR and PTA at 500,1 000,2 000,4 000 Hz to get the thresholds of ASSR(single frequency) and PTA. Correlation analysis were done between the thresholds acquired with ASSR and PTA at different frequency(500,1 000,2 000,4 000 Hz) for each different hearing loss degree(≤20,21-39,40-59,60-79,≥80 dB). Results At each frequency, there was a close correlativity between the thresholds acquired with ASSR and PTA. The rectified threshold of ASSR and PTA at different frequency and hearing loss degree had been obtained. Conclusion The rectified ASSR threshold could be applied as an objective method for evaluating hearing loss to distinguish malingering deafness in the practice of forensic medicine.

    Abstract ( 1732 )
Objective To observe the changes of expression of phosphorylation c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase(p-JNK) during the skin burned wound healing in patients and discuss the molecular mechanism of burned wound healing. Methods The staining intensity and distribution of p-JNK were detected by immunohistochemistry and routine histology in burned skin samples of 12 patients and normal skin samples of 12 control subjects. Results In normal skin, the positive signals of p-JNK were mostly localized in basal layer cells of the epidermis, with a positive rate of (8.8±1.3)%. In the burned group, the positive signals of p-JNK were mainly localized in the epidermal cells and some inflammatory cells, with a significantly higher positive rate of (31.2±3.3)% than the normal group(P<0.01). Conclusion The changes of p-JNK expression after skin burned might correlate with wound healing.

    2008, 0(5): 356-360.
    Abstract ( 1663 )
There are irreversible eyeball structural changes in high myopic patients. These changes include axial length, corneal radius, anterior chamber depth, fundus degeneration, macula thickness, etc. There is a close relationship between the damage degree of visual function and these changes. The incidence of complications, such as vitreous opacity, posterior vitreous detachment, cataract, glaucoma, posterior staphyloma and retina detachment,is also highly related to the myopia diopter. More and more researches have indicated that the myopia diopter and the level of visual function are affected by multiple factors. It is promising to detect all of these changes by different kinds of methods, and to assess visual function through these changes. By clarifying these changes,it is also useful to distinguish traumatic damage from disease to provide evidence for forensic assessment of eye injuries.

    2008, 0(5): 361-364.
    Abstract ( 1816 )
During the past two decades tremendous efforts have been made by the medical community, especially in the fields of forensic medicine and pediatrics,to better understand the etiology, epidemiology and pathophysiology of SIDS. There have been many SIDS reports from developed countries, but few from developing Asian countries. Despite a recent significant decrease in the incidence of SIDS in many developed countries,SIDS continues to be the most common cause of post-neonatal infant death in these countries. This article analyzes the SIDS data(1990-2006) from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland,USA,along with review of the literature with regard to the history, epidemiological and pathophysiological characteristics of SIDS,as well as the recent advances in SIDS research. The changing trends in the diagnosis of SIDS and current challenges to its forensic investigation are also discussed.

The Association between Glutamate Receptor Gene SNP and Schizophrenia
    LI ZHONG-JIE;WANG BAO-JIE;DING MEI;PANG HAO;SUN XUE-FEI;YANG JUN (DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC SEROLOGY;SCHOOL OF FORENSIC MEDICINE;CHINA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY;SHENYANG 000;CHINA)
    2008, 0(5): 369-374+.
    Abstract ( 1965 )
Glutamate is a necessary excitatory neurotransmitter in human nervous system, which runs a biological function by binding with corresponding receptors. Psychiatric diseases occur when genes which encode receptors become dysfunctional. The authors have reviewed related literature and summarized the association between schizophrenia and glutamate receptor gene SNPs such as rs11146020 in GRIN1,366C/G in GRIN2B,and rs1468412 in GRM3,etc. Due to controversial results in various studies,it is hypothesized that schizophrenia are complicated polygenic inherited diseases. Some sites such as 366C/G,2664C/T and rs1408766(C/T) possess with valuable genetic polymorphisms and might potentially contribute to personal identification and paternity testing. Studies in this field may have a potential significance in forensic psychiatry practice.
