Estimation of Stature from Intact Long Bones of Chinese Males in Comparison with American Whites and Negroes
    SHAO XIANG-QING(RESEARCH SECTION OF ANTHROPOLOGY;FUDAN UNIVERSITY;SHANGHAI)
    1985, 0(1): 6-12.
    Abstract ( 2015 )
This study of estimation of stature from length of intact long limb bones is to be based on measurements of stature during life and of bones after skeletonization.A rather high degree of correlations between stature and long limb bones were determined, and from them, based on the theory of regression, new 152 regression equations, including 120 simple linear regression equations and 32 multiple regression equations, were computed. After a thorough analysis of the equations, it was found that inferior limb bone lengths are more highly correlated with stature than are superior limb bone lengths and, therefore, they may be expected to provide a more reliable estimation of stature; stature lower limb long bone regression equations reveal a lower standard error of estimate than that from the upper limb long bone. Never use a superior limb long bone to estimate stature when an inferior limb long bone is available. Moreover, estimation of stature from the sum of the length of femur and fibula (or tibia) appears still more reliable than that from any one of the lower limb long bones. Finally, the regression equations to estimate living stature from the long bones of Chinese males between 21 and 30 years of age were compared with the regression equations of American Whites and Negroes (M. Trotter, 1958).

The Probabilities of Discrimination and Paternity Exclusion for Genetic Markers in Chinese Han Nationalities
JIA JINGTAO(DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE;CHINA MEDICAL COLLEGE)
    1985, 0(1): 13-18.
    Abstract ( 1958 )
The Probability of discrimination (DP)and of paternity exclusion (PE)in Chinese Han nationalities has been calculated with 20 genetic markers. We divided these systems into four kinds depending on its probabilities of discrimination. we discussed the application problems of DP and pc (probabilities of coincidence) in the practice of forensic serology and pointed out the way for further enhance PE in Chinese. A computer programs are also destribed, which can be used for calcuation of PE with HLA systems.

HLA—A Typing in Human Serum and Salive
LU HUILING GUO JINGYUAN(DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE;ZHONGSHAN MEDICAL COLLEGE)
    1985, 0(1): 18-21+5.
    Abstract ( 1951 )
The soluble HLA antigens in human serum and saliva were determined with microlymphocytoxicity inhibition test (MLIT).As compared with the results of positive and negative salive determined, the difference was very significant(P<0.01). So we have reasonably considered that the human salive is presence of soluble LHA-A antigens.

Distribution of Gc Types in Wuhan
LONG YANG YANG QING-EN(DEPARTEMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE;WUHAN MEDICAL COLLEGE;WUHAN)
    1985, 0(1): 21-24.
    Abstract ( 2098 )
The distribution of group-specific component(G) types was examined by disc electrophoresis from 508 unrelated residents in Wuhan. Discontinuous buffer system was used in this investigation. The polyacrylamide concentration used for separating gel was 9%, used for concentrating gel was 3.125%. After electrophoresis the gel was stained with amidoblack and destained by electrilytic destaining. This method shortened destaining time compared with the conventional destaining method. The distribution of Gc types in the population of Wuhan was as follows: Gc 1—1=255 (50.2%), Gc2-1=214 (4 2.1%), Gc2-2=39 (7.7%). The gene frequencies were calculated at Gc=0.7126. Gc 2=0.2874.

    Morphine Immunoassay
HU BINGWEI(DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE XI'AN MEDICAL COLLEGE)
    1985, 0(1): 24-28.
    Abstract ( 2053 )
Immunoassay for Poisons is based on Clssical immunochemical procedures and utilizes an antigen-antibody reaction as an analytic means. It can determine the poisons contained in the blood or urine Sample quantitatively and directly No isolation is necessary, Thus this procedure can be performed easily and rapidly, and the results obtained are sensitive. For instance, the sensitivity of radioimmunoassay is 10, 000~10, 000, 000 times as high as that of the triditional method, up to ng(10~(-12)). The main adventage of this method is that it can be used as a Screening test, especrally the negative exclusive tests. This paper presents morphine radioimmunoassay and enzyme inhibition immunoassay, including the preparation of antigen and antibody, labelling of antigen and quantitative Procedures, etc.

Invesitigation of Forensic Toxicology Referring to the Problem of Using KMnO_4 solution for Lavage of the Stomack
YAN LING SHUNG JI-DONG(DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC TOXICOLOGY;INSTITUTE OF FORENSIC SCIENCES;MINISTRY OF JUSTICE;PRC)
    1985, 0(1): 28-32.
    Abstract ( 2151 )
There are, though rare, some data on acute toxicity of potassium permanganate being used in clinic for lavage of stomack after ingestion of alkaloids and otherorganic poisons. But the attributing factors are still vague and ambiguous. In order to make it clear, the acute toxicity of potassium permanate and the combination of potassium permanganate and scopolamine hydrobromide, a selected alka loide, were experimented on mouse. As a result, the LD_(50) of potassium permanganate, scopolamine hydrobromide and their combination were 986, 957 and 1177 mg/kg, LD_5 were 375, 355 and 467 mg/kg; and the time of death in 95% confidence ranged from 1.92 hr. to 5.6 days, 0.01 to 1.09 hr. and 0.5 hr. to 5.8 days repectively.According to the results, the toxicity of potassium permanganate was medium The combination, as expected combined value of LD_(50) was 971 mg/kg and the measured one, 1177 mg/kg, thus the k=1.21, was recognised as an additional joint action. And, as to the types of time of death, scopolamine hydrobromide showed very quick, potassium permanganate delayed, and the combination held the characteristics of both of them.It is concluded that when the potassium permanganate and the scopolamixe hydrobromide have been uptaked, the con tributing factors of poisonning and/or even death, are both of them, and the concentration of potassium permanganate solution for lavage of the stomack should be under 1/5000.

A Study on pharmacognostic Identification of Rei—Xiang—Lang—Du(Stellera chamaejasme L.)
    ZHAO TAI-AN XI JIAN-HUA(DEPARTMENT FORENSIC TOXICOLOGY;INSTITUTE OF FORENSIC SCIENCES;MINISTRY OF JUSTICE;PRC)
    1985, 0(1): 33-36.
    Abstract ( 1981 )
The root of Rei—Xiang—Lang—Du (Stellera chamaejasme L.) is recognised to be tosic and therefore will be identified when it is necessary in criminal case. But how to identify it is a problem. Hence in order to solve, if possible, this problem, a general description of the morphological and histological characters of the root will be made and the chemical analysis will be studied. In this paper, how to apply the method above-mentioned into the identification of decocted dregs was discussed.

The Forensic Pathological Studies of Brain Death Ⅰ.—35 Cases of Morphological Studies of Brain Trauma.
LI DEXIANG(DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE;CHINA MEDICAL COLLEGE)
    1985, 0(1): 36-41+5.
    Abstract ( 2062 )
Morphological studies of brain death due to blunt force are reported. Macroscopically, although superficial trauma of the body not prominent, but brain and spinal cord injuries may be very serious and cause primary brain death.Brain hernias, especially cerebellar tonsil hernia is most important and the forensic medical autopsy must be done carefully. This autopsy procedure not only determines the hernias but also the liquefactive necrosis of the hernial tissue, and cerebellar tonsil tissue may be fallen in to spinal space or mixed with spinal cord tissue.
