    Forensic-Toxicological Studies on Chinese Crude Drug Yang-Jin-Hua(Datura):I,Quantitative Determination of Toxic Constituents Alkaloids

    Yang-Jin-Hua(Datura)are toxic Chinese traditional drugs.It is found that there are 3 kinds of darura on the marker.In this paper,a quanti- tative method(by spectrophotometer)for determination of their toxic cons- tituents——two kinds of alkaloids(hyposcine and atropine)on two species of Yang-Jin-Hua(Datura innoxia Mill and D.stramonium L.)is described. Our study shows:1)The proportion of atropine in alkaloids is:flower- 79.9%,fruit-83.0% and seed-84.7%;2)The proportion of hyoscine in alk- aloids is:flower-20.1%,fruit-17.0% and seed-15.3%;3)The proportion of alkaloids in drugs is:flower-0.5389%,fruit-0.1306% and seed-0.2361%.

    Experimental Study on Detection Methods of Phosacetim in Intoxicant Death I.Extraction and Pretreatment of Forensic Specimens

    This paper focus on the extraction and pretreatment of forensic specimens. The experimental studies on tissue distribution of phosacetim and effects of storage conditions on phosacetim concentration showed that liver was very useful in forensic analysis for its higher phosacetim level,which was little affected by the storage time and temperature.Extraction methods of biological sample had also been investigated and the results indicated that the use of enzymic digestion of liver tissue in the determination of phosace- tim was no more effective than modified direct extraction method,which was quick and easy operation and its recovery rate was about 80%.

    The Use Gc Subtypes in Paternity Testing

    A total of 128 individuals from 40 disputed paternity cases were determined for Gc subtypes with isoelectric focusing followed by immunoblotting.The exclusion probabilities of Gc subtypes were 36.26% for expected and 44.44% for observed.No cases with Gc subtypes were found to be inconsistent with HLA,Gm,and other genetic markers.

    Simultaneously Typing of Hp,Tf and Gc Phenotypes in Human Serum

    Hp,Tf,Gc are three genetic markers that are very important in individual identification and paternity testing in Forensic Science.In this paper,we report the method of simultaneously typing of Hp,Tf,Gc pheno- types in human serum by slab electrophoresis with polyarylamide gel. Before electrophoresis,the sample is mixtured with 5% Hb solution by 1:2.5(v/v).Electrophoresis is carried out at a contant voltage of 240V for three hours.After electrophoresis,the gel is stained with Benzidine for Hp phenotypes,then with Amino-Black for Tf and Gc phenotypes.The electrophoretogram of Hp,Tf,Gc shows in the cathodic,central and anodic region respectively.Using this method,we examine commonly the gene frequencies of Hp,Tf,Gc in human serum in Shanghai China.The obtained allele frequencies are as follow:Hp1=0.3182,Hp2=0.6818;Tfc=0.9886, Tfd=0.0076,Tfb=0.0038;Gc1=0.6667,Gc2=0.3333.The detection of three genetic markers in same gel plate is very effective and this method also available to the discrimnation of blood stain.We also discover that the slight hemolysis has little effect on the detection of Tf and Gc phenotypes.

    lnvestigation on finger prints as an indicator of blood relationship

    This paper worked on the hypothesis suggested by some schoolars that finger prints might be used to identify paternity or/and maternity.200 people's two-hand finger prints of parents and children in blood relations of 62 families were investigated.The data was analysed statistically by Falconer method.According to the data analysed,three hypotheses had been surposed and each hypothesis had been fully discussed.The conclusion is that it is impossible that the finger prints can be used as an indicator of blood relatonship.

    Five cases of widespread bruises of soft tissue were analyzed.The pathologic changes in the body were DIC,edema and hemorrhage of the lungs and renal lesions.The mechanism of death was hemorrhagic shock and traumatic shock,finally due to renal insuffiency.

    Suicide is not only a problem in the field of forensic medicine,but also a problem of sociology.In this paper,the causes of suicide based on the data collected from certain area in Shanghai had been analysed.It is recognized from the results analysed that in one hand,in the prevention point of view,chemical intake,especially pesticides and sedatives,was the most popular(67.8%)way of suicide in this area,and on the other hand, there were 51 cases in which the intention of suicide had been discovered and stoped.So in the work of prevention,it is suggested that the passive way we may take is mainly to control chemicals and the positive way is to discover the intention of suicide and stop it in time.In the paper,other types of suicide method have also been discussed.
