Abstract: Objective To explore the application value of susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) in the forensic identification of hemorrhagic diffuse axonal injury (DAI). Methods The forensic identification materials of 20 DAI cases were analyzed retrospectively. The sequence image materials of T1WI, T2WI, diffusion weighted imaging (DWI), fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) were analyzed statistically. Results DAI related hemorrhage focus commonly located in the superficial area of brain. The detection rate of hemorrhage focus by SWI was the highest, which showing significant difference (P<0.05) compared with other sequence images. Conclusion The SWI plays an important role in the forensic identification of DAI.
